MEET NAT DARBYSHIRE: BLUESKY HEALTHCARE OWNER

A devoted father to a 10-year-old daughter, Nat is a previous owner of several businesses - he also commenced a charity for children called 'Natural Highs'.

Nat's passion and motivation for helping people and his love for the outdoors, cars and motorbikes meant that a match was made in heaven when he purchased Bluesky Healthcare in 2015.

What Brought me to Bluesky Healthcare?

I had owned businesses previously, but I wanted a business that I felt could motivate me; and where I could utilise all of my skills in importing and wholesale as well as designing and manufacturing. I spent over a year searching, but when I found Bluesky, I knew it ticked all of my boxes.
I always had a fascination with cars, off-road vehicles and motorbikes so the whole idea of getting involved with mobility scooters was perfect for me because I could also fulfil my passion for helping people in need.
When my Dad started to lose his battle with cancer and rapidly went through various stages needing different equipment almost weekly I learned a lot, including the feel-ings and emotions that people go through when this happens to a loved one. I have always been empathetic, but my own experience definitely made me be able to understand a lot more.
I now firmly believe that electric vehicles will be the future and I like the idea of every-one being able to have the perfect personal electric vehicle for them.

My typical day involves ordering stock, working on developing new products, keeping in touch with new and emerging products and technology, as well as taking calls from customers. We have a good relationship with all our suppliers and factory’s that we deal with, but this always takes time and effort to keep the communication open and moving forward, solving problems and improving products. I also like to stay in touch with the other businesses that sell our products around the country, and I am continuing to build that network.
I also like working with customers who need products modified as I have a good idea of what can and can’t be done (one of my previous businesses was in maintenance and repairs) so I like getting my hands on the tools sometimes designing or modifying products to meet customer specific needs. Calls from happy customers praising either the product, sales staff or logistics staff get put through to me which is really lovely to hear and certainly gives a sense of satisfaction. I also crave systems and organisation which constantly needs tweaking and simplifying as change occurs.

My future goals going forward - I would love to have more Bluesky Healthcare locations. Right now a lot of customers have to travel a long way to our showroom so more locations will be ideal
