Are you aware of the great free service offered by the Independent Living Centres (ILC) in Perth?
The Independent Living Centre WA (ILC) provides unbiased information and advice, assessment, training, funding and hire services that enable Western Australians of all ages and abilities to live more independent and fulfilling lives.
Service areas include carer support and respite, assistive technology and equipment, Noah’s Ark WA, occupational therapy driver assessment, Home and Community Care regional assessment, and grants and equipment funding.
The ILC was founded in 1977 by Ms Freda Jacob as an information and advisory service on assistive equipment and technology. The organisation has expanded and grown over the years, managed and driven by an effective Board of Management.

What They Do
• We respect people of all ages and abilities including older people, people with disability, their family, carers, service providers and the community.
• We support people’s independence and wellbeing through information, advice, assessment, referral, funding, hire and respite services.
• We work with people by listening, guiding and linking them to products and services.
• We collaborate with organisations to offer the best possible service to our consumers.
• We strive to continually improve the quality of our services by undertaking research and evaluation.
• We expand knowledge and skills within the sectors we work by providing specialist training, events and consultancy.
Their Funders
The ILC’s operations are extensively supported by State and Commonwealth government funding. Agreements are currently in place with the State Disability Services Commission (DSC); the Commonwealth/State Home and Community Care Program (HACC); the Commonwealth Department of Social Services and Lotterywest.
The ILC is funded by these Government Departments to provide people with disability, the frail aged and their families access to professional expertise and services that contribute to the outcomes of wellbeing, independence, positive relationships, development of abilities, skills and competencies and participation in community life.
Make sure to drop into the centres today for free advice. There are a few centres located throughout perth the Head Office is located at The Niche, Suite A 11 Aberdare Road, Nedland WA 6009.
Hours of operation: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm (By Appointment) or you can ‘Drop By’ without an appointment to view equipment in our showroom and speak with a therapist every Wednesday and Friday between 10am and 1pm.
