One of our employees here at Bluesky Healthcare has recently left to go travelling around Australia with her partner for a year. She packed up her things, quit her job, bought a caravan, rented out her house and got a one-way ticket to Melbourne to start her adventure! She is by no means the only one who is doing that. A significant amount of older Australians that worked hard all their lives raised their children and now find themselves free and full of life and ready for new adventures are doing the same.

The only problem beeing that some of them, while feeling young on the inside, face problems of an ageing body, such as sore joints and muscles. The great news is, that doesn't have to stop you from seeing all the beautiful places our country has to offer! You can always find options and solutions to overcome your particular mobility struggles. It might be as easy as investing in an electric bike and leaving your regular push bike at home, or you can opt for a mobility scooter. Depending on your needs and requirements there are different options available to you.

For example, if you are travelling in a Campervan / Motorhome, you can attach a Scooter Rack to the back of it and take a mobility scooter with you that way. The big advantage of this is that you can take a large size gopher that you can use to explore your new surroundings while leaving your campervan all set up in the campgrounds. You can also fit two smaller gophers on the scooter rack, which will allow both of you to go exploring together. If you do choose this option, ensure that you choose models that have some form of a suspension as this will make the experience ALOT more enjoyable, especially if you are travelling on unpaved roads and over campgrounds. You can also buy covers, so you don't have to worry about your scooters beeing left out in the rain and getting filthy during transport.

If you are travelling with a Caravan, you can't use a gopher-rack, as you are already towing a caravan. You will also have a different primary use for a scooter as you can use your car to do the run around in, you might only require the gopher for extended shopping trips. The foldable portable scooters might be the best option for this, as they allow for easy transport and won't takes up much room in the car, as space is always a premium when travelling. While these scooters aren't designed for outdoor use, due to the lack of suspension, they are suited for well-paved areas. So there is nothing stopping you from exploring botanical garden, parks and foreshores.

Most attractions and larger cities are now made wheelchair accessible, which is great news, as they are also mobility-scooter accessible now.
