About Us

Bluesky Healthcare was born out of the frustration of its two owners, as they both worked for organisations in the healthcare industry that were focused on mass producing mobility equipment where one size fits all.

Due to the difficulties in finding innovative locally made mobility products, George Papos & Damian Ryan combined their skills in mechanical design and human biology to form Bluesky Healthcare. A small product showroom was soon opened designing and manufacturing custom built mobility solutions in North Perth. The company developed a range of adjustable beds and lift & recline chairs, where clients were supplied with equipment that was exactly what they needed and wanted.

Bluesky Healthcare was committed to quality and its adjustable beds and lift chairs were strongly supported by the Healthcare profession and the everyday users alike. From humble beginnings as a small 2 man operation the business quickly grew as the word spread that a locally made , custom built alternative was available. Relocating into a large showroom & warehouse facility located in Selby St Osborne Park ensured our customers would receive the same quality of service and the ability to try all products in our big new showroom.

After several very successful years Bluesky Healthcare listened to the pleas of its clients and sought out a higher quality range of scooters and powerchairs than those that were available in the Perth market. The partnership between Heartway IMC and Bluesky Healthcare 2003 was an instant success with Bluesky Healthcare now able to offer a wide range of quality scooter and powerchairs that are manufactured to the high standards expected by our customers.

In 2008, Bluesky Healthcare expanded its product range and introduced stairlifts to compliment its other domestically oriented equipment. True to the company values, Bluesky Healthcare approached the most respected stairlift manufacturer in the world and became the exclusive distributor for Stannah Stairlifts, the worlds most chosen stairlift.

In 2010, Bluesky Healthcare sought a solution to the problem of how to get a person in a wheelchair up a set of stairs in either their home or workplace. After a lenghty search and an extended courtship Bluesky Healthcare teamed up with Lehner, an Austrian based manufacturer of platform lifts. Lehner, just like Stannah, are a custom manufacturer and build every lift specifically for each individual staircase ensuring a perfect fit and the safest ride possible. Bluesky Healthcare are proud to be the exclusive supplier for Lehner platform lifts.

Since 2001, Bluesky Healthcare has been a leading provider of quality and stylish mobility solutions, dedicated to helping Australian’s enjoy a better quality of life.  Our extensive range of customisable mobility products are specifically designed and manufactured to help you maintain your independence while at the same time giving you a safer enjoyment of your home.

At Bluesky Healthcare we design and manufacture a comprehensive range of adjustable beds and lift & recline chairs; all crafted with comfort and style in mind.

We are also the exclusive agents for Heartway scooters, Heartway powerchairs, Stannah stairlifts and Lehner platform lifts.

Over the years, it has been our uncompromising commitment to quality, comfort and customer care that has earned us an enviable reputation within our industry and helped us to develop long lasting and ongoing relationships with our clients.

Bluesky Healthcare is Western Australian owned and operated. Our Head Office is  located in  Osborne Park, Perth with a factory  and a showroom. Our South Australian office is located in Keswick, Adelaide with a showroom and a warehouse.

Guest blogger Justin Eveson pops into Bluesky to give us all an update on his preparations for London 2012...Justin has just arrived in Italy to fullfill a 6 month playing contract that will lead him into London

La Dolce Vita

Well it has been a little while since my last blog, but this will be the first one from our new home in Rome!

DSC06556.JPGThe first thing I want to talk about is our journey here with a 2 month old baby Hugo, over the years I have experienced many flights with the screaming baby up front so I know what it could have been like but we must have had some serious karma up our sleeves as the guy was an absolute little champ on the way over, sleeping for most of the flight and only really waking to have a feed or change, but I think the thing that most impressed me was he equalized the air pressure all by himself on take-off while his mum and dad watched nervously with dummy, bottle and toys at the ready!

Arriving back at Fiumicino airport brought back a lot of memories for me, it has been four years since I played in Italy and even though my Italian was a little rusty we got the basics sorted out pretty quickly: setting up house; re-learning to drive on the other side of the road; Italian SIM card; internet at home and getting reacquainted with my old friend the Diavola pizza (hot salami pizza with olives)!

We then settled into a pretty heavy training regime as the two other Australian players here (Michael and Brad) and I were preparing for the qualifying tournament for the London Paralympics as well as getting straight into the Italian League.  Playing for a new team there is always a bit of settling in period but luckily I knew most of the guys already which made the transition a bit easier and this showed on the court  as we put four games on the trot into the win column.

Paralympic Qualifiers

It felt like no sooner had we arrived in Italy I had to leave again, which was made much more difficult as I was now heading to South Korea for the next  10 days and I had not been apart from Hugo for more than a weekend before. I can tell you that while Skype is a fantastic thing there is no substitute for a hug from my boy J.

Hard foul Korea Nov 2011.jpgIt was great to catch up with the Rollers again though as we embarked upon the next step in our journey towards defending our gold medal in London. The Asia Oceana zone allows two teams to qualify for the Paralympic Games which means four of the six teams there miss out and as expected there was some heated competition for those spots. The Rollers made it through to the tournament undefeated, but the final pool game between Japan and South Korea was an absolute nailbiter with the hometown heroes going down by one point to round out the two London qualifiers.

So with Japan, and most importantly, the Aussie Rollers booking their tickets to London we were on the first plane back to Rome and a family reunion! Look out for my next blog for an insight into Italian life and a round-up of our tough games ahead, ciao ciao!
